AlarmForgeX health monitoring in a small dedicated appliance.
The Edge PoE Reporter is being explored as a focused deployment option for sites where a compact, always-on network appliance makes more sense than a full Windows installation.
Monitor rather than view video
The appliance is intended to watch supported VMS and related health endpoints. It is not designed to record footage, stream video to operators or run video-event analytics.
Forward qualified faults
Planned receiver paths include SIA DC-09 and CSV/IP/T4000 so health faults, restores and supervision can use the same professional reporting model as AlarmForgeX on Windows.
EXPECTED WORKFLOW
Install it on the security network, then let it watch.
The exact onboarding flow is still in development, but the intended operating model is deliberately simple and local-first.
Power by PoE
Connect the appliance to a suitable PoE Ethernet port on the security or VMS network.
Configure locally
Set network, monitored-system and receiver details through the final supported commissioning interface.
Watch health
Poll or subscribe to supported VMS and endpoint states, retaining the local health state needed to qualify changes.
Report changes
Send configured faults, restores and supervision through approved receiver paths with retry and acknowledgement handling.

The Edge appliance is not planned as a replacement for every Windows installation. It is intended as a smaller, more focused option where a headless health reporter is enough.

Initial capacity target: up to 100 monitored endpoints.
The current engineering goal is for the appliance to handle approximately the same order of health-monitoring capacity as the 100-device Windows Health Business tier, while keeping the feature set deliberately lighter.
Final supported capacity will be set only after the selected production hardware, thermal behaviour, storage, network load, protocol mix, retry queues and real VMS integrations have been validated.
